Friends

Today, we hosted a brunch for some of Sadie's baby friends. These are all friends we made through 4th Trimester, the drop in group for new babies and their mommies. Amy started gathering our email addresses and one thing led to another. Now, we try to get together for brunch every month or so.
This is Tavyn in the black t-shirt (11 months), Katie in aqua top and khakis (almost 10 months), Sadie in denim jumper (9 months) and Clayton in plaid shirt (8 months).

It was great hanging out with the parents and watching the kids play. Sadie shared her toys nicely, although she commandeered the little wooden fish toy that Katie brought with her. She really had fun with so many babies to play with. She even let her friends use her high chair and her booster seat for their lunches.

The favorite toy of the day was the wooden busy box. Here, Sadie and Katie play with it together.

After everyone left, Dan and I agreed, "We should have people over more often." So, maybe you'll get invited over one day soon!

Who needs toys?

Sadie has a great collection of toys but some of her favorite things to play with aren't toys.

-plastic baby clothing hangers
-small tupperware container, preferably with some Cheerios inside
-car keys
-egg carton (as seen above)
-plastic card, such as Coop Membership Card
-box
-plastic cup
-cardboard beer coaster
and the number one favorite:
-paper, especially newspapers or magazines

Go Lebanon HS Raiders!

Friday night, Sadie went to her first football game, Lebanon vs. Somersworth. She had a great time, so we think she'll enjoy Dartmouth football games even more, especially since they are in the daytime.

The cheerleaders threw mini footballs into the crowd. Daddy got one for Sadie.

We left after the 3rd quarter, with Lebanon winning. The final score was 29 to 0. Go Raiders!

Fang

Not Sadie's prettiest moment, but she wanted to show off her top teeth. As you can see, the side ones have arrived before the front ones, so she appears to have fangs.

Busy week

We had a very nice, relaxing Labor Day weekend, which brought a definite change in the weather. There is just a little hint of fall in the air. We took a walk from our house to downtown Lebanon, where we played on the swings and then had lunch at Salt Hill.

That nice weekend was followed by a very busy week, as Mommy went back to her academic year work schedule, Daddy is hard at work in the lab and Sadie is learning lots of new things like standing, feeding herself, turning the pages of books and, as of last night, actually stopping what she is doing when we say "No". One more exciting thing happened this week; our friends A and L had their little boy, Isaac, who will be a friend for Sadie and also one of her daycare "classmates" when his mommy goes back to work in a few months. Welcome to the world, baby Isaac!

9 Months old

Yesterday was Sadie's 9 month birthday. She's now been out as long as she was in. Doesn't she look grown-up?

Come on out, new friends...

I'm waiting for my new friends to be born. Come out and play with me, Baby Girl S. (due a few days ago) and Baby Boy A-B (almost due)! Look how much fun it is on the outside! Or you could wait to be born on Labor Day as that would be kind of cool.

Sadie's shout-outs:
Happy Birthday, Grampy!
Happy Birthday, Cousin Anabel!
Happy Anniversaries, Grammy and Grampy AND Grandma and Grandpa!
Congrats on your job and good luck with your move to Philly, Cool Aunt Jenny!
Congrats on becoming a homeowner, Auntie Kara!
Congrats on your new home and good luck with the home improvements, Beth and Jake!
Good luck as you start your Ph.D. program, Kate!

A visit from Pete

Pete visited us on Monday for a fun time which included lunch at the Hop for old time's sake. The same french fry guy still works there. Pete got to meet Sadie for the first time and we got to meet his girlfriend Danielle for the first time. Everyone was very favorably impressed with one another.

Can you see the rainbow in the background? It was a vivid full arch rainbow, really amazing.

I'm back!

This is me, on vacation at Migis Lodge in Maine, enjoying a bowl of whipped cream.

Check back soon for a full report on my fabulous week in Maine, which included lots of time with Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Jenny, Mommy and Daddy, as well as fun things like swimming in a lake, enjoying nice weather and playing. I had a great time!

We're off!

We're heading to Maine. We'll try to share some pictures while we're away, but if not, we'll see you on the flip side!

Mini Golf

We played mini-golf on Sunday. Dan got a hole-in-one, Ann got a few pars; Dan was the winner. Sadie was the puzzled but cheerful observer.

I'm so excited!

And I just can't hide it.

So much going on lately!

Nana babysat me on Thursday because my sitter Aquila couldn't watch me. We had a great time and Nana came to my last swimming lesson on Friday.

Mommy had Mommies Night Out with her Mommy friends last night, so Daddy and I had a special night just the two of us. I love Daddy.

I went to the Farmer's Market today and got a lot of compliments on being cute. See a picture of me at the Farmer's Market below.

We're busy getting ready for a trip to Maine. A week from today, I'll be swimming in a lake. Mommy said I could have a pancake with syrup on it in Maine. And a muffin too! I like food and swimming, so this is going to be good! Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Jenny will be there with us. Yay!

My Auntie Kara's offer on a condo was accepted. She's very happy, so that makes me happy.

I'm doing a lot of new stuff, like pulling up on furniture and standing. I can cross-crawl and lunge crawl. When I see something I want, I go right for it. I like remote controls, cell phones and electrical cords very much, but I don't usually get to play with those.

I have tooth/teeth now! There is definitely one tooth and Mommy and Daddy think they see another one next to it, but I don't like them to feel or look at it.

Thanks for all the comments, everyone! I love getting comments!

Swimming Lessons

Sadie and Mommy have been taking swimming lessons for a few weeks now at the swanky River Valley Club. Sadie is trying to learn how to blow bubbles, but mostly she tries to drink the water. But she is a champ at going all the way under and scooting off the side of the pool into Mommy's arms. Here is a short movie of Sadie in action - as you can tell, Sadie loves to swim!

Sadie Loved the Beach!

As promised, Mommy put up a new Sadie photo album. Sadie is doing so many new things these days - feeding herself finger foods, legit crawling, trying to pull wires out of the outlets, eating the remote control. It is fascinating to watch her learn new things. She's like a living development textbook.

Sand!

Sadie thinks that sand is very tasty and thoroughly enjoyed her visit to Wallis Sands Beach with her Mommy, Daddy, Nana, Grampy and Auntie Kara.
Stay tuned for more beach photos and a new Ofoto album within the next day or so.

Cooling off

Doesn't looking at this picture make you feel cooler?

Sadie is a little water baby these days. She's loving her baby pool and taking nice long baths after a sweaty day. She's also taking swimming lessons twice a week with her friend Clayton and some other nice babies. Sadie loves most of the activities; kickboards, pool noodles, jumping into Mommy's arms, kicking her legs, front floating. She's not a big fan of back floating, which I think reminds her of lying on her back, which she also doesn't like much. Sadie has mixed feelings about raft play, where the babies are supposed to lay on their bellies on rafts. For Sadie, being on her belly means crawling, so that's what she tries to do and often ends up crawling right off the raft. No big deal though, she loves to be wet!

Swimming lessons make Sadie tired. After her lesson, she often falls asleep in the locker room and comes home and takes a 2 hour nap. That means Mommy gets to do her own thing for 2 hours! Hooray for swimming lessons.

Getting into mischief already...

Sadie climbs underneath the coffee table
Sadie can barely crawl, and she's already climbing under the coffee table. We could be in for trouble once she can walk!

Friday, July 15, 2005

Look what I can do!

I can get my own toys.

I can crawl into the underneath of the exersaucer.

I can tip over the toy basket and end up with the basket over my head. This one is not so fun!

I can drive a car!

Just kidding, I am only pretending to drive.

New York

We're back in New Hampshire after a fun long weekend in NYC and Connecticut. Sadie had a great time with Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Jenny, Friend Kevin, Auntie Lolly and Friend James. Some highlights were the swings in the Ridgefield Playground, a bath in the sink with Aunt Jenny, seeing Auntie Lolly's apartment, breakfast at EJs with Mommy and Daddy, walking through Central Park and looking at everything with big eyes.

Most of all, Sadie enjoyed her first concert...Stephen Malkmus and Yo La Tengo in Battery Park.

Getting excited...

Summer is fun. Yesterday, Sadie's Nana visited her and they had a great time visiting King Arthur Flour and walking around Hanover. Today, Mommy and Sadie signed up for summer swim classes. We're excited about that. Tomorrow, we're all headed to Connecticut and then to NYC for the 4th of July long weekend.

Babbling Baby

Sadie grabs for the camera on the lawn

It's movie time again! I realized that a lot of you probably hadn't heard Sadie's funny little voice. So I made a movie of Sadie lying on the lawn enjoying the nice weather and babbling away. Enjoy!

Happy Father's Day

Dear Daddy,
Happy Father's Day to you! I am a very happy baby to have you as my Daddy. When I see you smile at me, I know you really love me as much as I love you.
Being with you is always a fun time. You are the best at getting me to laugh with funny noises and tickles and great games. I like when you give me a ride on your shoulders or carry me in my Bjorn. You always make sure I see and do interesting things, like yesterday when you showed me the baby cows. We're special friends, you and me.
I don't think all babies have such a good daddy as you, so I know I am lucky that we are so happy together, Daddy!
I love you so much,
Love,
Sadie

PS Happy Father's Day to my terrific grandfathers, Grandpa in New York and Grampy in New Hampshire! I have the best family!

Today

This morning, a lady at Bagel Basement said I was a cute little girl and then asked me where my hair was. That was a little mean, don't you think? Then, she tried to make me smile at her. But I didn't smile. Because she insulted me.
I can't help it if I'm still mostly bald. Mommy and Daddy think that I'm beautiful just the way I am.
