Hot

backwards glance

We're having a nice run of hot weather here. When I pick Sadie up at daycare, she is usually quite sweaty but very happy. She's been asking to wear a dress almost every day lately, which is fine with me. She has lots of nice light sundresses. It will be interesting to see how the dress phase works out in the colder weather.

Family Dynamics

Conversation with Sadie this morning while snuggling in bed.

Sadie: Why you wearing that ring in bed Mommy?
Ann: It's my wedding ring. I always wear it because I am married to Daddy.
Sadie: No! I married to Daddy, my husband. We married. We dance together. You the mommy.
Ann: No, Daddy and I are married, you're our little girl.
Sadie: I know a plan! We all married!

Big Girl Swing

Originally uploaded by Dan and Ann
Sadie still loves to swing. Ever since she was a little baby, she has enjoyed this kind of motion! She is getting really confident going on a "big girl" swing. She also loves tire swings...there is one in Norwich that she loves to ride on.

Nana and Bob-Bob's party was really lovely. I'll try to share some pictures from the party this week.

Similarity

When we went to New York, Sadie had fun at this playground near Grandpa and Grandma's apartment. This piece of equipment makes musical chimes and is a lot of fun to play with. Sadie loved playing here, probably because it is the almost exact same equipment as they have at the Ray School playground here in the Upper Valley...the main difference is that the Ray School stuff is yellow, red and blue and the NYC equipment was light green and red.

We're off to Nana and Bob-Bob's today to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary!

Scenes from School

One of Sadie's favorite things at daycare is when Kathy comes. Kathy is a musician and children's music teacher who visits several times a month to sing and play instruments with the children.

Sadie loved playing with scarves while Kathy sang the "bird song".

More Golf

I meant to share this picture in the previous post, but I guess I forgot.

Sadie's name for this slightly shaggy hairstyle is "Just fluff it up, leave it PLAIN, Mommy!". Sadie loves this yellow dress and wants to wear it frequently. I say that she has to wear it like a jumper with a t-shirt underneath because it is quite low cut in the front. The purple fake crocs add a perfect finishing touch.

Mini Golf

We took Sadie mini golfing on Sunday with Nana and Bob Bob. Two year olds do not exactly understand golf...Sadie loved picking up the balls and giving them back to whoever hit them or gathering the balls and dropping them in the hole. She put her ball into the water hazards on purpose. She had a great time playing her version of golf!

Pony Ride

This past Friday, Sadie's daycare held their summer fair. If your child doesn't typically go to daycare on Fridays, you can bring them and spend the morning with them. I had a great time seeing Sadie with her friends and teachers and doing all the activities.

Her favorite thing was the pony rides. She took three turns and wanted to ride more, but the ponies had to go home. As far I as could tell, she was the only child who rode three times. Many of the younger kids were scared or didn't want to ride, and the older kids seemed satisfied with one or two turns, but Sadie would have done it all day long.

Snack on the Beach

Another cute picture from our trip to Ogunquit. Sadie loved sitting on her little pink beach chair (and she also loved carrying the chair around, climbing on the chair, etc.) She still likes to use this chair around the house, although I recently took it down to the basement and hid it for now.

We Came, We Saw, We Prouty-ed

This morning, we walked the 10K Prouty to raise money for cancer research. We had a great time. The weather was beautiful, Sadie rode most of the way in the joggers and it was fun to walk with Isaac, Laura and Andy.

Here we are on the Green, which is the approximate 1/2 way point of the walk.

Sadie chowed down at the breakfast before the walk.

We raised lots of money too! Thank you to everyone who contributed.

Grandpa's Toys

Grandpa has a lot of intriguing toys around the house...many of them are antiques. This was Sadie's first visit to New York where she was able to restrain herself and play gently with the toys, leaving the very special ones alone. She is really growing up.

Wiffle Ball

wiffle ball
Sadie played her first game of wiffle ball with Daddy, Aunt Jenny and Andy while in Connecticut this past weekend. Mommy does not play wiffle ball, but she took pictures of the game. Sadie was an eager participant, but didn't manage to make any hits.

On the Beach

Sadie runs down the beach to see Daddy flying our kite during our visit to Ogunquit, Maine in late June. She had the best time playing on the beach, jumping the waves in the freezing cold ocean and swimming in the hotel pools.

We got to the beach before 8:30 am, which is why it looks completely deserted in this picture. By 10:00, it was crowded.

4th of July

little patriot
We went to the Hanover 4th of July events on the green again this year. There wasn't as much to do as there was last year, but Sadie had fun and we capped off the morning by going to the Ray School playground, our new favorite Upper Valley playground.

Grandma Bev

I apologize to anyone who was worried about us during the past week or so. Yes, it was a long time to go without posting, but my mind was elsewhere.
grandma bev and sadie
My Grandma died today. She had a long and wonderful life, but we are all very sad that she is gone. I know Sadie will miss her "Gramma Bev" very much. I really appreciate all of you who have been thinking of us and my family, and who were concerned about us.
I have some extremely cute pics of Sadie to share over the next few days. Even when times are sad, a little Sadie-sweetness is good for the heart!
