Beth's Request

Beth asked to see Sadie doing her "Sleep, Sadie" trick.

This is a variation, because usually, she'll lay down when you tell her "sleep", but here she just put her head down on the couch. It's cute anyway.

Thanks for delurking, folks. Keep it up! It's been so fun to read all the comments this week.

Jacob's Request

Jacob asked if Sadie was old enough to type her own blog entry. Not yet. But here's Sadie practicing her computer skills on Daddy's laptop.

Matthew's Request

Sadie's friend in England, Matthew, requested pictures of Sadie eating pasta and fruit. Here, Sadie enjoys a plateful of Annie's Organic D.W. Whole Wheat Pasta and Alfredo Sauce (Matthew, D.W. is a little girl anteater from a children's cartoon program in the US). Sadie enjoys this easy to prepare meal and the pasta shapes are easy to pick up. These pictures were taken tonight.

See Matthew, it's yummy!

I found out today that it is Delurking Week in blog land. This means, I can encourage you who visit this site and never leave comments (ie, lurkers), to please leave a comment and make yourself known. We love visitors to the site, whether we know you in person or not. All are welcome!

Kate's Request

Kate requested a new photo each hour. Unfortunately, we can't do that, but here is a picture from this afternoon.

Aunt Jenny's Request

Here's a picture of Sadie dancing while we all sang "Happy Birthday" to her friend Esme at a party last weekend. As a bonus, Aunt Jenny, she is wearing the shirt you gave her.

And here is Sadie enjoying the cake.

We're still taking requests and questions, so keep them coming!

Questions? Requests?

Do you have a question for Sadie or her Mommy or her Daddy?
Would you like to see a picture of something in particular?
Just use the comments to ask. We love getting comments!

Sadie is doing so many new things lately. It's amazing to watch her change so quickly. Her language skills in particular are growing. She understands what we say to her and responds. One favorite activity is looking at a book illustrated with photos of real items and pointing to things as we name them. She especially likes to point to the baby, the dog and the cookie.

Some new words that Sadie says:
Uh Oh
Daw (meaning dog)
Cook (meaning cookie)

Another new trick is "sleep"...if we say, "Sleep, Sadie", she immediately lays her head down on the nearest surface and says
aaaah. Too cute.

The Plan with The Tiger

Sadie and Nicholas make a plan.

They go over the details.

A decision is made.

Sadie puts the tiger on the bookself.

Now, to complete the plan: Sadie and Nicholas squeeze behind the shelf and Sadie gets the tiger.

Sadie had an excellent time at playgroup today, which was followed by nap that is now heading into it's third hour.

Getting Bigger

Here are Sadie's current stats:

Height: 30.5" (77.5cm)
Weight: 22lbs. (10kg)

For the record, that is a 50% increase in height and almost a 200% increase in weight since birth! On the other hand, she has about the same amount of hair.

Last Post of 2005

It's New Year's Eve. When she wakes up tomorrow, Sadie will have been alive in three different years, despite being only 12 months old.

Sadie is raising her glass, or rather, her sippy cup of milk, and wishing her friends and family a wonderful 2006!

Gender

Scene: Lebanon Village Market, a small grocery store generally frequented by "locals".

Elderly Man (coming up to Sadie and clapping his hands): You're a good little man! What a nice smile. Aren't you a big strong man?

Sadie: (Laughs, claps her hands, waves at the man)

Mommy: She's a girl, but she is big and strong.

Elderly Man (switches to a baby-talk voice): Aren't you just the prettiest little girl? What a sweetheart. She's a doll.

Chrismukah

Happy Holidays, everyone! Or if you prefer, Good Chrismukah! (Chrismukah is a term Daddy learned from the ever-so-smart-and-clever TV show "The OC").

We had a really nice Christmas with Grampy, Nana and Aunties Kara and Lolly, as well as lots of Daddy's family, and have been enjoying Hanukah as well. We're looking forward to spending the 5th and 6th nights of Hanukah with Grandpa, Grandma and Aunt Jenny.

Sadie and her cousins on Christmas Day:

We're working on getting a new set of pictures up on Ofoto, once we erase all the red-eyes.

Snow Day

For the second Friday in a row, Sadie and I are snowed in. Sadie thinks a good way to pass the time is with her books. Today, she is reading Toes, Ears and Nose! by Marion Dane Bauer and illustrated by one of our favorite illustrators, Karen Katz.

A Good Daddy

Sadie, I picked a very good Daddy for you. Of course, you already know that because you just give him the biggest smiles and have the greatest giggles with your Da-Da, but I wanted to say it again because Daddy did a very nice thing this morning, all on his own accord. While Mommy was at work, he put away all the laundry, cleaned the bedroom, reorganized the whole closet and brought all the dirty laundry down to the basement. That was nice, huh? He's good to us.
Love,
Mommy

Sadie is amazed by the lights on the Christmas tree.

Sadie's Other Party

Sadie also had a party with her many cousins from Daddy's side of the family.

Sadie, Mommy and Cousin Sean...Sadie is 2 weeks older than Sean. Sean is bigger, though!

Sadie loved hearing the "Happy Birthday" song.

This cake is very delicious.

So much frosting!

Sadie's birthday parties were great. Now we can move on to celebrating Hanukah and Christmas. There is no rest for the weary but there is lots of happiness.

Party Time!

Sadie's Birthday Party with friends was December 3.

We went to Price Chopper to pick up the cakes.

There they are!

Sadie waited nicely for her friends to arrive.

Mommy, Daddy and Sadie blow out the candles.

The cake is good!

The party was really fun and Sadie enjoyed seeing all her guests, which included all four grandparents, lots of kids and many others. The next day, Sadie had a party with family, which was also a lot of fun. Pics from that party will be posted soon.

1st Pictures from her First Birthday

Happy Birthday Sadie!

Sadie is one today and this weekend will be full of partying to celebrate her special day. We love her so much and are so proud of her today, on her first birthday. We can't believe she's been here a year. More pictures and a longer post to follow, I promise.

Happy Birthday Aunt Jenny!

I'm running over to give you a kiss, Aunt Jenny! Happy Birthday to you! I hope you have a great day. Do you want to know something cool? Tomorrow is MY birthday.
Love,
Sadie

P.S. Check out my new boots...cute, right?

Thanksgiving in New York

We had the best time with family in NYC this past week. Sadie loved spending time with Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Jenny, Great-Grandma Bev and many other relatives as well as seeing some friends. She was very interested in her five year old cousin Sam and her three year old cousin Isak, although they weren't quite as interested in her as she was in them.

Some fun memories from Sadie's First Thanksgiving...

Playing on the roof playground with Grandma's class:

Sadie really liked the tunnels!

At the parade with Daddy and Mommy:

(While at the parade, Sadie ate a NYC hot pretzel from a street vendor!)

Mommy and Aunt Jenny saw a "celebrity" at the Rangers' game:

It is Jason Priestly of Beverly Hills 90210 He's probably grumpy because they won't let Donna Martin graduate. It couldn't be the results of the game because the Rangers won following an exciting shoot-out!

We were too busy feeding Sadie to get pictures of her on Thanksgiving night, but Grandma did, so we'll scan some pictures in when she develops her film. Sadie ate sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, peas, cranberry sauce and a little bit of turkey. Birthday cake too!

Even more memories: visiting Grandpa's office and Auntie Lauren's office (it's the same office, believe it or not!), seeing Kate and meeting Ryan, lots of Hanukah shopping with generous grandparents, visiting FAO Schwartz with Mommy and Daddy, general big city fun!

More pictures, if you want to see them!

Some of our favorite pictures from this fall.

Almost birthday time...

The celebrations have begun for Sadie's first birthday, which is less than two weeks away. Today, we had a nice playdate and lunch to jointly celebrate the first birthdays of Sadie's and her special friends, Natalie and Tavyn. Katie and Clayton were going to come and celebrate too, but at the last minute, neither could make it. We had fun, but we missed them!

Here's Sadie, eagerly awaiting her friends' arrivals.

Here are some pictures from the party.

Swinging

Sadie enjoys a quick swing before going to the Library on Monday. Can you see the wind ruffling her "hair"?

Sunday, November 13, 2005

Hi!

Here I am inside the new 3-season porch at Nana and Grampy's house. Daddy was outside and I was waving to him. I'm going to have a fun excursion today to Montpelier and Stowe...you can see pictures of it later!

What's New?

What's new with Sadie now that she is 11 months old?

*She is walking everywhere and is getting to be quite speedy on her feet.

*She loves to eat and now eats most table foods. She has 7 teeth.

*Books are so fun! Sadie will happily spend long periods of time "reading" her books. She especially likes books with flaps to lift up and see what is underneath.

*We are hearing lots of babbling, with a few words. She calls Dan "Da-Dee" and Ann "Da-Da". Her cup of milk is "muh muh". She points and says "Dat!" (that). Sometimes she says "Hi" and "Bye". She is beginning to repeat us when we say something.

*Lots of hand motions: waving, clapping, pointing, rolling fist over fist (from the 5 Little Pumpkins Rhyme), "open shut them" and more. We're working on holding 1 finger up for "how old are you?"

*We are seeing a little bit of imitating our actions. She feeds her baby doll a bottle. She likes to hold her plastic phone up to her ear.

*A new game is that she picks up a toy and brings it to one of us or offers us some of her food.

*Everything is fun! Sadie loves to explore her world, especially checking out grown up things, like a basket of napkins, car keys and anything else interesting.

*She is starting to give hugs.

We love her more and more every day!
