Planting

watering flowers

We also got some herbs, but since we ran out of potting soil, they still have not been planted.

This coming weekend, we are going to (try to) get our vegetable garden in. We got seeds for cucumbers, green beans, wax beans and radishes. We'll get small plants for our tomatoes, bell peppers and jalapenos at the Farmer's Market. Last year, we grew some huge sunflowers as well. Should we do those again?

I'm glad that Sadie isn't afraid to get her hands dirty like her Nana. Nana likes to buy our flowers, but she's not to eager to plant them. Like you, I'm still working on getting my vegetable garden planted.

How quickly did your sunflowers grow last year? Did you just start with seeds? I think that would probably be a lot of fun for Sadie again this year, to see how big and fast they'll grow. I never thought about planting sunflowers, but I think you've inspired me now. Did you need to give them any support when they got really big, like with stakes or anything?

We started with seeds and planted them in early June and they grew really fast and got tall. They finally bloomed around the first week of August. I remember because they started to flower right as we left for a vacation! They didn't need stakes. The stems are strong! Ok, we'll do it again...you're right, Kacey, Sadie would love to see them grow.
