StoryLand

We had a terrific visit to StoryLand. Both girls are now tall enough to ride every ride and Sadie is tall enough to ride without a grown-up. She had a great time doing rides with Isaac!

Sadie also finally conquered her nerves regarding Humpty Dumpty and was willing to pose for a picture with him!

Happy Birthday, Sweetheart!

Helena is 4! We celebrated with family including Grandma, Grandpa, Jenny, Andy and BobBob and had a party for Helena's friends

We are so proud of our little girl. This year, she started Montessori school, she learned to write her name and draw great pictures, she learned to swim and many more things. She is our sweet and loving "little mommy" who loves to care for her many baby dolls. She is full of kisses and hugs for us. You are growing so beautifully! We love you, Helena!

Updates

It has been a long time since we've posted any updates.  In that time, the girls finished up the school year, we moved to a new house (just across town) and Helena turned 4!

Some catching up posts will be coming soon!  For now, here are some pictures from our trip to Saint-Gaudens.  It is so beautiful there, we can't believe we have lived here 8 years and this was our first time visiting.

Baseball Season

Sadie is playing youth baseball again this year. She is now in the Rookie league, which is no longer t-ball. Their coach pitches to them. She is on an all girls team with a number of her friends and is very excited to play some games. Her team is the Cardinals, sponsored by Boisvert Plumbing. Helena's International Night

One of the highlights of the year at Montessori Discovery School is the international night, where each class studies a country and presents it to the school community. Helena's class studied Russia this year. She was so proud and excited to share with us!

One of her classmate's mother is Russian and she sewed these dresses for every girl in the class.

Grandma and Grandpa sent a tablecloth and a matryoshka doll they had from their trip to the former Soviet Union.

Library time!

We have been going to the library a lot lately. Sadie is zooming through books and loves being able to get as many as she wants. Helena likes to bring home new books as well.

Helena loves this new exhibit at the Montshire, where kids can dig for fossils. It is part of an evolution exhibit. Helena and Ann are having special time together while Sadie and Dan are skiing.

Sadie Skiing!

Sadie Skiing a video by Dan and Ann on Flickr.

Despite the minimal snow this winter, Sadie has become a real skier. She took evening lessons at our local community hill and she and Dan head over to the hill together fairly often. Here she is skiing, with Dan filming as he skis behind her.

Fun stuff

Sadie's school had a fair yesterday in the gym. We all had a good time...Helena especially loved the cotton candy!

In other news, Sadie is doing great with ski lessons, both girls are enjoying swim class and doing well at school. It is hard to believe the school year is half finished already!

Some Things From NYC

We had a great, busy visit to Grandma and Grandpa in NYC. In just a few days time, we visited Grand Central Station (to see the constellation ceiling and the miniature train exhibit), the Rockefeller Center tree and the Museum of Natural History. We also went ice skating in Stuyvestant Town (thanks so much, Uncle Andy), ate delicious food at Birreria at Eataly (thank YOU, Aunt Jenny), and hit the Cloisters on the way out of town. Sadie and Helena had an evening with Grandma and Grandpa while Dan and I saw Phish. It was all good! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for planning such a special time for us. Playing in the Woods

Playing in the woods by Dan and Ann
Playing in the woods, a photo by Dan and Ann on Flickr.

We've had some really good fall weather and the girls are playing outside as much as possible. Soon, it won't be so nice.

Both girls are loving school. We had a conference with Sadie's teacher and Sadie is having a great year. She excels at reading, makes connections quickly, has a lot of knowledge to share and is a good friend to her classmates.

Helena is learning a lot in Montessori. They are working to help her spell her name. She usually says "H E H E A", so she's getting there! Her teacher brought a big tree stump into the classroom and Helena loves to put on safety goggles and hammer nails into the stump. She will go to the fire station tomorrow with her class and she is very excited.

Sadie's first grade picture came out great. Helena's pictures were also adorable. It was hard to choose the best pose. We'll share these soon!

Here are two cute pictures of the girls from Weston's birthday party this weekend. We're having fun with Instagram, a tool that you can use to make your photos look vintage. Hanging out in a tree I love my pumpkin

Fall Fun!

Happy Helena by Dan and Ann
Happy Helena, a photo by Dan and Ann on Flickr.

We are enjoying beautiful weather for Columbus Day weekend and are taking great advantage of it.

Saturday, we hiked Gile Mountain after Sadie's soccer practice. Both girls loved this hike and climbing the fire tower at the top. Helena walked the whole thing, she didn't need to be carried at all!

Sunday, we went to the Cedar Circle Farm Pumpkin Festival, which was lots of fun with yummy food, and lots of our friends were there.

Today, Dan had to go to work, but the girls went up to Poverty Lane to pick apples. We looked at pumpkins too, but didn't buy any yet. Both girls have field trips to pumpkin patches coming up in the next couple weeks.
