So busy!

Everyone is keeping us so busy while Daddy is away.
Auntie Lolly spent the night on Sunday and then Aunt Jenny came on Monday and just left this morning. It was really nice to spend time with them. Sadie especially loved that Lolly and Jenny both came to Mimo to drop her off and she showed them her school.

Here's a little "life in the Upper Valley" story:
When Jenny arrived Monday night, we wanted to get some dinner delivered after Sadie went to bed. First, we called Gusanoz for Mexican. They were not offering delivery for orders under $40 because one of the drivers didn't come in to work. Then, we called Peking Tokyo and ordered some sushi and some Chinese food. This was at 6:45. By 8:20, the food was not here. I called to check. They said "It's on it's way!" (Peking Tokyo is about a 5 minute drive from our place). But by 8:30, it was still not here. I called again...finally, they admitted that the driver had been pulled over by the cops for speeding and was still with the police. I cancelled the order. We then called Village Pizza...they were not doing delivery because they had no drivers working that night! We gave up and made quesadillas and guacamole.

In other news, welcome to Gilly's brand-new little brother, Simon. He's super cute!

Flying!

Daddy let Sadie "fly" before we headed in to see a puppet show last weekend.

What else is new here? Auntie Lauren and Friend James came for a quick visit after Grandpa and Grandma left midweek. When I told Sadie they were coming, the first thing she said was, "James likes to play Legos." I'm not sure how she decided that, but he does!

We are getting very excited about going to DisneyWorld in a few weeks. Sadie wants to see Mickey Mouse, Dumbo and "Cinda-Reya", but does not want to see any kings because they are "scawy". She thinks that knights in armor are kings because they have a suit of armor at the King Arthur Flour Bakery and she does not like it at all. There are two suits of armor at a local brewpub that have freaked her out since she was a tiny baby. I think we'll be able to avoid armor.

One more thing for our local readers...the Lebanon Co-op now offers children's meals at the sandwich counter! It's a choice of PB and J, grilled cheese (any kind of cheese), or a deli sandwich (I think turkey, ham or tuna) on white or wheat, served with fresh fruit and your choice of drink. The drink comes in a reusable kids cup with a straw. All for $3.49! Sadie had grilled cheddar on wheat and ate it all up, as well as all the honeydew and cantaloup in her fruit cup. The pineapple was spit out and pronounced to be "sowder" (sour).

Small Artist

One of Sadie's favorite holiday gifts was this easel from Auntie Lolly and Auntie Kara. We keep it in the guest room and in the morning, Sadie often asks, "I check on ma easel?" If we say yes, she runs in and yells, "Good-mornin', easel!"

She loves to use the easel to draw with crayons or to do "stickah work" as seen here. I'm hoping she continues to enjoy art. Drawing and painting were some of my favorite things as a child and through high school and then I guess I ran out of time for it. It's nice to have art supplies around again, even if it's just crayons, and to do some drawing with Sadie.

A lot of you have noticed that Sadie suddenly has a lot more hair! Last week, she came home from daycare with this funny hairdo created by her teacher Sonya. Dan and I thought it was pretty funny so we had to snap a picture.

City Fun

We had a wonderful weekend in Boston with Grandma and Grandpa. We visited the New England Aquarium where Sadie loved the penguins and the fish. This little sculpture of a penguin was at just the right level for Sadie to snuggle with.

She was a little hesitant to touch a hermit crab in the tide pool exhibit.

After, we took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and walked over to Quincy Market for a snack. Sadie was mesmerized by a street performer and watched intently for over 30 minutes.
Other weekend highlights included dinner Friday night with Auntie Lolly and seeing Nana and Bob Bob on our way home on Sunday. Also, the Patriots won their playoff game, so Dan was happy about that!

Dressing Up

Sadie posed for pictures while wearing one of my scarves. This one reminds me of one of my favorite baby pictures of Aunt Jenny. Jen, do you know which one I mean?

Sadie loves having her picture taken...she will strike a pose and then ask, "Cheese me?"

Laughter

We had a wonderful family Christmas. It was great spending time with everyone. We have many pictures to share, including some terrific ones of Sadie and her cousins. As soon as I get everything unpacked and put away, I'll share them with you. This picture is from Christmas day at Sadie's great-grandparents' house. She's on the porch after coming back from a walk she took with Dan, Bob-Bob and Auntie Lolly (Auntie-Yahddy, in Sadie's words).
